The Perth mint, along with the Melbourne mint ceased the production of commercial proofs in 1963 but the Perth mint, produced proof of record strikes for 1964, as they did with every other year they struck Australian commonwealth coins (including those years where commercial proofs were produced from 1955 to 1963). One pair of the half penny was offered at a Spink & Son sale in 1987, both coins were slightly impaired and the pair sold for $7200 (Coin Web, 2007) .
